The plot centers on the young mistress of the castle, Cornelia van Vestrum, who feels the blood of her ancestress, a kleptomaniac Roma, running through her veins. In the meantime, Gudry has discovered a waitress who is the spitting image of Cornelia, who now resides as the mistress of the castle and whom he intends to marry. Of course, things turn out differently.
